Dr. Andrea Schmoll

Andrea has more than 20 years experience in advising her clients in relation to all matters of intellectual property law. Her main focus lies on the commercialisation of IP rights.

She is one of Germany's top licensing experts and has significant experience in technology transfer (in particular licensing deals) and research and development projects. Among her further key areas of expertise are the protection of trade secrets, royalty monetization, employee inventions, joint ventures and IP-related transactions.

Andrea is head of the German Life Science & Healthcare sector with longstanding experience in supporting her clients in all contractual aspects involving the protection, the development and the commercialization of IP Rights as well as regulatory issues.

Because of her broad international expertise, Andrea is also co-leading Osborne Clarke’s Global Life Sciences and Healthcare Group. Her business acumen and ability to navigate different legal systems has made her a sought-after advisor for international companies seeking to commercialize their intellectual property internationally.

In 2025, she has been nominated as one of the finalists for the LSPN Awards USA in the category ‘Inspiring Woman of the Year’.

Since many years JUVE recognizes her as a top IP expert with extensive experience in complex matters. Legal500 describes her as very competent and business-oriented. According to Intellectual Asset Management  Andrea is one of Germany’s leading experts in IP related transactions (licenses).

She regularly speaks at conferences and has authored and co-authored several books on IP licensing and technology transfer.

Andrea studied law in Göttingen, Hong Kong and Bonn. She obtained a doctorate from the University of Jena in 2001. Prior to joining Osborne Clarke in 2014, she was a partner at Baker & McKenzie since 2009.
